Katherine Vandermel

Katherine Vandermel, soprano, is a junior in Eliot House at Harvard College studying Economics and History & Literature with a secondary in Theater, Dance & Media. She is a graduate of The Juilliard School Pre-College as a Voice & Opera Major where she was a student under Lorraine Nubar, and an alumnus of the Curtis Institute of Music Mikael Eliasen Voice Program. Kate has been named a winner of the National Association of Teachers of Singing Competition, Great Composers International Competition Series, and Hal Leonard International Vocal Competition, and has performed at Carnegie Hall, Lincoln Center, and The Kimmel Center for Performing Arts among others. At Harvard, Kate has performed with the Harvard College Opera Society, Harvard-Radcliffe Gilbert & Sullivan Players, Harvard-Radcliffe Dramatic Club, and Jazz Combo Initiative. Outside of music, she enjoys writing, biking, and swimming. She looks forward to serving on the HCO Board this year!
