An unparalleled opportunity at the undergraduate level, at Harvard or anywhere, to completely immerse yourself in the art of opera — 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
For the entire month of January, you will work with multiple teams and across a number of disciplines — without any hassle of class or other term-time commitments — to help join all the parts of our mainstage opera together into one cohesive performance.
Though organized around the core role of Assistant Stage Director, this internship will expose you to every part of our mainstage process: you will participate in producer, director, tech, and staff meetings; assist in lighting, costuming, painting, and set design; attend rehearsals for the cast, chorus, and orchestra; learn about videography, audio engineering, and livestreaming; and come to know the ins and outs of the Agassiz Theatre.
The internship is semi-structured, meaning that if you discover a passion for one part of our process, gain a knack for a particular job, or become curious about another team’s projects, we encourage you to spend your time exploring whatever interests you most.
Open to first-and second-year students with no prior experience in management of opera. If interested, please contact harvardcollegeopera@gmail.com before Oct 28th for more information regarding application materials. Interviews will be scheduled for the first week of November irrespective of submission date.
